After years of you asking, we're pleased to finally offer our first-ever homebrew workshop!

Suitable for first-time brewers and novices wanting to go beyond extract-based kits, this program features a "compromise" method that allows you to make almost any type of beer and design your own recipes, but do so without needing tons of special equipment and without taking an entire day. We'll go through the whole process start to finish, and with just a pinch of stage magic everyone will take home a 1/2 gallon jug of unfermented proto-beer. Topics covered will include recipe design with different types of malt, grain, and malt extract, hop varieties and their use, yeast biology, sanitation, and natural carbonation.

Instructor Bio:

Long before launching Homestead Junction, Rick's first DIY love was homebrewing. It feels like a lifetime ago, but back in 2010 he was brewing twice a week and doing legwork to open (what would surely have become) one of Vancouver's premiere craft microbreweries. Lately he's mostly 'retired' from the homebrew scene, but he's never lost his passion for the alchemic blend of science, art, and magic that transforms grain and hops into that wonderful ageless libation, beer.
